"How does one start a movement? First you need a concept or belief that people can rally behind. Then you need a means for those people to interact & share ideas, and finally you need to reward those that support the cause in order to entice new members & grow the community.

We greet each other politely every morning, we say it back to one and other. This is not a new concept, but is is one that has been lost in the realms of social media.

The NFT community looked to change that, and Twitter is a better place for it."

This was the original concept behind the desire to create what would become the gmDAO back in September 2021, where our founder Cyphr began the Twitter challenges (see below)

Inception post of gmDAO.

The idea was simple, each day a tweet would be sent out saying "gm." & the first 10 indivuduals who replied were entitled to claim a gmDAO token. On days that an insufficient number of people replied, the remaining tokens for that day were burned.

After the initial success of the first tweets, many began trying to game the system through the use of scripts & alt accounts in order to claim additional tokens (there was a strict rule of 1 token claim per person). To combat this, each gm tweet would be accompanied by a challenge or some sort which gamified the token distribution.

At the end of the distribution period, a vote was cast to decide what to be done with the 175 unclaimed tokens (the majority of which were won through challenges but never claimed on Opensea). We decided upon burning 100 of the tokens, and retaining 75 within our treasury. The initial distribution was fully completed on Monday 13th December 2021.
